After scoring the quickest brace in club history, Bethlehem Steel FC midfielder Santi Moar was voted to the USL Team of the Week.
The 23-year-old sparked the high-powered Steel FC offense at Toronto FC II on Friday night. Moar gave the squad the early lead with a left-footed effort in the 19th minute. Three minutes later after a defensive stand, Moar finished off a counter-attack for his eighth goal of the season. Moar’s night wasn’t complete as he notched his eighth assist of his rookie campaign, flicking a header toward Seku Conneh for the final Steel FC goal of the night.
A fourth-round selection by the Philadelphia Union, Moar has had a strong 2017 rookie season scoring eight goals and adding eight assists.
Moar is the sixth member of Bethlehem Steel FC to be named to the USL Team of the Week, joining forwards Cory Burke and Seku Conneh, defender Hugh Roberts, goalkeeper Jake McGuire and midfielder Adam Najem.
Moar and Steel FC will look to clinch the club’s first USL playoff appearance tonight when the squad faces the Rochester Rhinos in the USL Game of the Week. The final road match of the regular season will be streamed exclusively through the WatchESPN app and website with kickoff from Capelli Sport Stadium scheduled for 7 p.m.
