With the weather cooling off as winter approaches, Bethlehem Steel FC has announced that this offseason the club will host The Steel Cup, an indoor 7v7 tournament that will span in three locations starting in 2018.
The tournament will be held at three separate locations with teams looking to hoist the inaugural cup needing to compete in all three events. The quest for the Steel Cup will begin on January 13, at the Iron Lakes Sports Club in Allentown. Upon the conclusion of the opening matchups, the tournament will resume at the Lou Ramos Center on February 10. The Steel Cup will be decided on March 10, when the final matches are held at GAME TIME Fieldhouse in Breiningsville.
Each team that enters the tournament will receive 10 tickets to Bethlehem Steel FC’s 2018 home opener. Along with the 2018 tickets, Steel FC will donate $50 for every team at each site throughout the tournament to a participating charity in that team’s name. Teams entering the overall tournament will be guaranteed nine games throughout the tournament.
In order to be eligible for the Steel Cup, teams must appear in all three locations. Teams that can’t make all three dates are still welcome to join the tournament and will receive 10 tickets to the club’s home opener along with Steel FC donating in their name.
During the club’s home opener, each age group winner will be honored their Steel Cup at halftime.
