Hugh Roberts added veteran leadership to Bethlehem Steel FC in his first season with the club, scoring a goal while being a part of four shutouts. Roberts made 26 appearances in 2017, starting 22 matches for a total of 2,091 minutes. He led the team with 23 blocks and 111 clearances and was third in interceptions with 54. Roberts made his Steel FC debut as a substitute against FC Cincinnati (4/9). Roberts earned his first start at Harrisburg (4/15), as a midfielder. Returned to his usual position at center back against ORL (4/23). He notched his only goal of the season against Cincinnati (4/29), heading home the game-winning goal that won him USL Team of the Week honors. Roberts helped lead the squad to a shutout against Toronto FC II (5/13) and to the fourth shutout against New York Red Bulls II (6/16).

Hugh Roberts joins Steel FC after spending the past three seasons with USL squad Richmond Kickers where he made 55 appearances and 43 starts while logging a pair of goals…Was one of two players to play every minute of the 2016 season and earned All-League First team honors for his play… A tough defender, Roberts anchored a defensive line that allowed only 26 goals…Named a 2016 USL Defender of the Year finalist.

PDL Experience:

2013: Made 13 appearances with the Baltimore Bohemians of the USL Premier Development League, earning All-Eastern Conference First Team honors.

Collegiate Experience:

2010-2013: Prepped at George Mason University making 69 appearances and finishing his collegiate career with six goals and nine assists…During senior season was named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team and All-Region Second team while helping lead the Patriots to the 2013 A-10 Conference Championships.
